On February 14, Octagon released the “Squarex 618” barbecue griddle on Makuake, a support purchase service, and will exhibit the product at the “ATSUGI OUTDOOR STYLE 2024” outdoor event to be held in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, on February 17. The general sales price is 26,400 yen, and Makuake is offering an early bird discount of 2,500 yen.
This simple barbecue griddle is made of nitrided iron and is square in shape with one side measuring 18 cm. The baking surface is machined to cut 3 mm to create a shape that prevents oil and juices from spilling. In addition, the nitriding treatment (a reaction between the metal surface and nitrogen to form a durable nitriding layer) on the surface improves wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and durability.
The nitrided layer is harder than that of a typical knife, allowing the knife to be used on a steel plate. The griddle plate is 6 mm thick, and by preheating it thoroughly, the high thermal conductivity allows heat to be transferred quickly to the food, resulting in delicious grilling. Hamburgers, which are difficult to cook on the griddle, can be easily steamed by covering them with a large sierra cup.
After cooking, grease stains can be cleaned with neutral detergent. The corners of the steel plate have a rounded R finish to prevent damage to other utensils when carrying. The octagonal holes can be used to attach a carabiner to carry it, hang it after cleaning, or use it as a simple handle by machining a piece of wood and inserting it into the holes.
