On February 16, the three NEXCO companies, JB Honshi Kosoku, and Miyagi Prefecture Road Public Corporation announced that from FY2024 onward, no holiday discounts will be applied during Silver Week.
This is in response to the government’s “Package of Measures to Prevent and Curb Overtourism,” which outlines policies for various reviews to diversify and equalize tourism demand.
From FY2022 onward, the expressway holiday discount is not applied during Golden Week, Obon, and year-end and New Year holidays, and following this policy, it will also not be applied during Silver Week from FY2024 onward.
In addition, the company will consider whether to include three consecutive holidays, etc., in the program, depending on how they are used in the future.
