JR Tokai will hold a project to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Tokaido Shinkansen Line. The Tokaido Shinkansen began service on October 1, 1964, and this year marks its 60th anniversary.
From April 1 to May 8, a project to collect episodes related to the Tokaido Shinkansen will be conducted. Some of the stories will be published on the website and in “Hitotochi,” the in-train magazine for green cars, etc. Applicants will receive original goods.
In June, a hands-on event for children will be held at a general training center in Shizuoka Prefecture. The event will allow children to experience guiding passengers through ticket gates and driving simulators. Application details for the above two events will be announced at a later date.
In the second half of FY2024, Shinkansen trains will be operated with the emblems (chapters) of the prefectures and municipalities along the line, one chapter per train, and information on tourist attractions and specialties of the municipality will be provided through in-train broadcasts.
In addition, there are plans for special exhibitions at the Linear & Railway Pavilion and a special Shinkansen discount program, details of which will be announced in due course.
