JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with Prime Minister Bishir Hani al-Hasaouneh of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Tokyo on February 19.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Hassaouneh expressed his gratitude for JICA’s cooperation in Jordan and exchanged views on Jordan’s economic and financial reforms and the recent situation in the Middle East region.
President Tanaka stated that JICA would consider providing financial support to Jordan, which celebrates the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Japan this year, and that JICA would also provide assistance in various other areas, including tourism, water supply, and training programs.
They also touched on the recent situation in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority, and exchanged views on the path toward a ceasefire, JICA’s support, and other issues.
