The Obama-Ooi Takahama Wide-Area Tourism Promotion Council will operate the “Wakasa Memory Liner,” a direct bus service connecting JR Tsuruga Station and various locations in western Wakasa, on a trial basis. The service will run from March 16 to 31.
The Wakasa Memory Liner is a direct bus service from JR Tsuruga Station to the western Wakasa area (Obama, Ooi, Takahama, etc.) to improve sightseeing convenience in conjunction with the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line. The bus service is scheduled to operate during the hours when the JR Obama Line is not in operation, thus serving as a secondary transportation supplement.
Two routes are available: one departing from Tsuruga Station, JR Tsuruga Station, stopping at Roadside Station Wakasa-Obama, JR Obama Station, SEE SEA PARK, JR Wakasa Hongo Station, JR Wakasa Takahama Station, and UMIKARA (outbound), and one stopping at JR Wakasa Takahama Station, JR Wakasa Hongo Station, JR Obama Station, and JR Tsuruga Station (inbound).
There are two daily departures from JR Tsuruga and one from JR Takahama, each with a capacity of 27 passengers on weekdays and 45 passengers on weekends and holidays. The fare is ¥1,500 for junior high school students and older, ¥750 for elementary school students, and free of charge for preschool children. The service is operated by WAKO SERVICE Co.
