The nine JVs involved in the Umekita 2nd Phase development will hold a preliminary opening of the “Grand Green Osaka” in the Umekita 2nd Phase district on September 6. A pedestrian deck connecting the existing JR Osaka Station area and “Umekita Green Place” is scheduled to open on the same day.
Umekita” is the name of the redevelopment area on the site of the Umeda Freight Station, commonly known as “Umeda Kita Yard,” on the north side of JR Osaka Station. 2013 saw the opening of Grand Front Osaka as an advanced development zone, and in February 2023 the project was renamed “Grand Green Osaka.
Umekita Green Place, which will serve as the gateway, is scheduled to be fully opened in the spring of 2025. It will consist of three floors above ground, and will include commercial facilities, a pedestrian plaza, and a station plaza.
The pedestrian deck, which will open on September 6, connects the west end of the second floor of the North Gate Building (near the west exit of Luxe Aire) in Osaka Station City with the second floor of Umekita Green Place. This will provide access from JR Osaka Station to Umekita Green Place and Umekita Park via the North Gate Building.
In addition, Innogate Osaka, a station building with offices and other facilities, is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024 in Grand Green Osaka.
