Fukui Television Broadcasting Corporation, JR Service Net Kanazawa, Bansho Honten, Nishibata Bro Kogyo, and JR Nishinippon Communications Hokuriku Branch will release Fukui Gozen “Ryu no Megumi” on March 16 to coincide with the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Fukui and Tsuruga lines. It is priced at 1,680 yen and will be sold at Bansho directly-managed stores and stations.

This is a local ekiben featuring Fukui’s specialties and local cuisine, with 10 items on the menu, including “Kani-meshi (crabmeat)” and “Fukui marinated salmon”. The name “Ryu no Megumi” (blessings of the dragon) was taken from the first character of Fukui, the dinosaur kingdom, to express the hope that the ekiben will become a specialty of Fukui, filled with the rich “blessings” of the city.

The container is a two-tiered stack designed to resemble a dinosaur and made of environmentally friendly materials. They can also be used for secondary purposes such as lunch boxes and accessory containers.

On the side of the package is a two-dimensional barcode titled “Shotabi” (short trip). By scanning the barcode, users can view a video of sightseeing spots in the prefecture. Viewers can also enter a drawing to win 5 kg of “Ichihomare” Fukui rice.

The first 30,000 limited ekiben orders also include a leaflet describing Fukui’s famous sights and dialect, so that customers can experience the charms of Fukui while tasting the ekiben.
