Awajiya will sell “Hittari Ika-meshi” (cracked squid rice) (1,300 yen) on April 1 only.
Isn’t it more unique to do something that is not true? This year’s April Fool’s Day was a parody of the popular “Hittaridako Meshi” (pulled rice), which has been a staple of the company for many years.
While retaining the flavor of the original “Hippuridako Meshi,” the “Umani Octopus” has been changed to “Umani Squid” and the “Octopus Tempura (Satsuma-age)” to “Squid Dumpling”. The brown jar is now white to resemble a squid, and the wrapping paper features a design of the well-known octopus dressed in a squid costume.
Sales locations are as follows. Pick-up reservations can be made at each store.
