International Emergency Assistance for Snow Damage in Mongolia -Delivery of Donated Goods

Emergency relief supplies provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for snow damage in Mongolia have been delivered to the country.

Emergency relief supplies for Mongolia arrived in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, on March 25. At 16:00 (local time) on the same day, a handover ceremony was held at the National Emergency Situation Agency of Mongolia, attended by Mr. Ogan Bayar, Deputy Director General of the Agency, Mr. Bayarhu, Secretary General of the National Emergency Situation Committee, from the Mongolian side, and Mr. Ken Igawara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia, Mr. Tokuji Yoshimura, Deputy Director of the JICA Mongolia Office, from the Japanese side.

At the handover ceremony, Deputy Director General Oganbayar expressed his deep appreciation for the warm hand of Japan to the Mongolian people, who have suffered tremendous damage from the snow disaster. Ambassador Igawara mentioned the donations received from the Mongolian people after the Noto Peninsula earthquake in January, and stated that the foundation of bilateral relations is mutual assistance in times of hardship. Mr. Yoshimura expressed his wish that the donated goods would be put to good use in the affected areas and that the victims would be able to return to their normal lives as soon as possible.

Emergency relief supplies such as blankets, polyethylene tanks, generators, and cord reels will be promptly delivered to the victims by the government of the country.
