IHG Hotels & Resorts will open “VOCO Hiroshima” (1-1 Matoba-cho, Minami-ku, Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture) in the second half of 2027.
voco” is IHG Hotels & Resorts’ premium hotel brand, which means “invite” or “call together” in Latin. The company operates 62 hotels worldwide, the second in Japan after Osaka.
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the Atomic Bomb Dome, a World Heritage Site, and the downtown area of central Hiroshima, and with 301 guest rooms, restaurants, a rooftop bar, and meeting rooms, it is expected to meet the various needs of guests. The hotel will be developed and managed by Samty, which has concluded a management contract with IHG Hotels & Resorts.
Since the hotel is located on the old Saigoku Kaido road in the Edo period (1603-1868), the design of the hotel is intended to evoke a sense of the history of the area, with the Saigoku Kaido road in mind.
In and around the facility, there will be a meeting space for local residents to use, a waiting space as a “lively space” near a bus stop, and a temporary shelter for people who have difficulty returning home.
