Fukuoka City Transportation Bureau has launched a full-fledged credit card touch-payment boarding service on the subway.
As of April 1, the new system will offer discounted fares for children and persons with disabilities. By asking the attendant before boarding, passengers will be able to board at the applicable fare. The system already in place for regular fares, whereby passengers are charged a maximum of 640 yen per day, will be applied to children and persons with disabilities as well, for a maximum of 320 yen per day.
In addition, from around the summer, a system will be introduced whereby the maximum billing amount will be reduced to 12,750 yen by discounting the excess amount when the amount spent in a month exceeds 12,750 yen. The aforementioned system of a maximum daily bill of 640 yen per day will also be continued, and customers will be able to save even more by using touch settlement.
