Gunma’s first Disney Store opens tomorrow! Mickey Statue and Artwork in the Store!

Posted on 2024-04-222024-04-22 by Editor in Chief

Walt Disney Japan unveiled the interior of Gunma’s first “Disney Store Ota AEON MALL Store,” which will open on April 19.

Mickey Mouse will be the host and visitors can enjoy shopping in the imaginative store. The store is designed in the image of a picture book brought to life by the magic of Disney. The design is the first of its kind in Japan.

At the entrance, a Mickey Mouse statue welcomes guests. The trick is that the magic comes from Mickey’s left hand into the store.

Artwork by legendary animators (the Nine Old Men), selected from the Walt Disney Animation Studios archives, has been designed in various locations throughout the store.

All 68 works are designed, and the cash register is full of playful touches such as Cinderella’s friends, Gus and Jack the mouse, who appear in “Cinderella” sneaking a peek at the cashier.

More than 1,500 items are handled. Limited items featuring the motif of hot springs, one of Gunma’s most popular tourist attractions, are also on sale. From the popular “Urupocha-chan” series, a plush toy (1,800 yen each) relaxing in a hot spring bath and a tote bag (950 yen) with a tasteful “GUNMA” logo will be available.

In addition, to celebrate the grand opening, a gift campaign will be held: the first 1,000 customers to make a purchase of 5,000 yen or more will receive an original tote bag limited to the Ota AEON MALL store. In addition, a store card will be given to those who wish to receive it.
