Metropolitan Expressway held a regular press conference at its headquarters in Kasumigaseki on April 10. The speaker was Nobuhiro Maeda, President and Representative Director.
The three-year “Medium-Term Management Plan 2024-2026,” which begins this fiscal year, has six themes: new inspection technologies using AI/VR/MR and drones; promotion of ETC exclusive use; expansion of domestic and overseas infrastructure support businesses, including maintenance business, land compensation consulting, and construction consulting; carbon neutrality initiatives acceleration, development of technologies to support response to increasingly severe disasters, and creation of new corporate value.
As for the progress of the renewal project, the project will start in FY2024 for the Haneda Tunnel and the Arakawa Bay Bridge where new renewal is considered necessary (21.6 km).
In the Nihonbashi section of the undergrounding project, the removal of the Gofukubashi/Edobashi entrance/exit was completed in FY2023, returning about 10% of the blue sky above the river. 2024 will see the start of tunneling and other work.
In addition, as a new project, we will start construction of the “New Kyobashi Linkage” in FY2024 to connect the Tokyo Central Loop (C1) and the Yaesu Line (Y) underground to replace the Edobashi JCT, which will be partially closed due to the undergrounding of the Nihonbashi section, aiming for completion in FY2035. In FY2024, we will obtain project approval, explain the project and site compensation, and begin relocation of underground facilities.
The “Shin-Omiya Ageo Road,” a new construction project of the Yono Interchange to Ageo Minami Interchange (tentative), which leads north of the Metropolitan Expressway Route 5 and the Saitama New Urban Center Route (S2), is currently under land acquisition, and the replacement of the Yono Exit at the Yono JCT is being implemented ahead of the construction.
