Moomin Valley Park “Umbrella Sky” walk in early summer. We walked along the rainbow-colored corridor woven with countless umbrellas and bubbles!

Moomin Story will hold the Early Summer event “Moomin Valley and Umbrella” at Moomin Valley Park (327-6 Miyazawa, Hanno, Saitama), themed on Scandinavian life, from April 19 to July 7.

The “Umbrella Sky” is a rainbow of colorful umbrellas overhead, shimmering with sunlight and rain drops. This year, the fifth anniversary of the opening of the park, the scale of the event will be expanded to approximately 200 meters (twice as long as the event held in 2023), from the beginning cove area to the valley where the Moomins live, and the lakeside promenade will be decorated in a photogenic way. Approximately 1,000 umbrellas will be used, and the umbrellas will be reborn as new goods called “lunch bags” after the event.

In conjunction with the event, the park’s stores and restaurants will also be gorgeously decorated. The theme for this year’s event was “Moominmamma,” the kindly woman who delivers umbrellas to everyone when it rains so that they don’t get wet.

As you walk along the road looking up at the countless umbrellas, soap bubbles drift into the air on the wind. The bubbles are released from the shade of the trees every 15 minutes for about 3 minutes, enveloping the entire Umbrella Sky Road in a fantastic atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy the multiple changes in the atmosphere depending on the time of day and the amount of sunlight shining through the trees. Maybe you can meet Moomin and his friends with red umbrellas here: ……?

A photo contest will also be held from April 19 to May 12 to further enjoy the event. Follow the official Instagram (@moominvalleypark) and official X (@metsamvp_info) accounts and post your favorite photo taken in the park with the hashtag “#Umbrella Photo Contest 2024” to win a large Moomin A large Moomin plush toy will be awarded to three winners drawn in a drawing.

In addition, during the GW period from April 27 to May 6, there will be a “Fireworks Display on the Lake in the Moomin Valley,” a five-minute fireworks display starting at 19:00 every night. The fireworks will be accompanied by an original song from Moomin Valley Park, creating a romantic evening of powerful light and sound.
