Omura Bay PA (up line) on Nagasaki Expressway to be renewed at 8:00 a.m. on April 19. New observation terrace overlooking the sea.

NEXCO West Japan, West Nippon Expressway Service Holdings Kyushu Branch, and West Nippon Expressway Retail will reopen the store building at Nagasaki Expressway (E34) Omurawan PA (uphill), which had been undergoing reconstruction, at 8:00 a.m. on April 19.

The total store area is 443m2, 1.9 times larger than before, and the dining space has doubled in size, while the shopping space has tripled in size. The new menu includes Nagasaki Champon with plenty of seafood, “Omura Sushi,” a local dish that has been revived for the first time in about 10 years, the “Nagasaki fried horse mackerel set meal,” available only at the Omura Bay PA, sponge cakes from “Fukusunaya,” which has been in business for 400 years, and products from the popular Huis Ten Bosch store “Chocolate House,” sold for the first time on an expressway. The lineup will include a variety of products such as the “Nagasaki Fried Aji Set Meal,” which is only available at the Omura Bay PA.

The store also has an observation terrace, “Aoi Niwa” (blue garden), which takes advantage of its location overlooking Omura Bay. The name was chosen through a public contest in cooperation with the local Higashisonogi town, and it creates a romantic space where visitors can enjoy the blue sea and the setting sun while taking a break.

The exterior is a modern design with a simple, fair-faced concrete style and warm wood grain on the terraces and louvers. The restroom building and the store building are smoothly connected via a newly constructed hall.

Around summer, the “Lover’s Sanctuary” area on the site where the heart objet d’art stands will be reopened after construction is completed.
