Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, commemorative event for the “Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus,” which will be in its final operation from June 1.

The main venues are Murodo and Daikanbo along the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a mountain tourism route connecting Toyama and Nagano prefectures, and will be divided into three themes and periods.

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, operated by Tateyama Kurobe Kanko, will hold events from June 1 to November 30 to celebrate the final operation of the Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus, the only trolleybus still in existence in Japan.

Phase 1: June 1 – July 26

Part 2: August 24 – September 16

The first “Thank you! Memories of the Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus” will operate a special edition vehicle with a limited design and head mark, and there will also be an exhibition at Daikanbo Station to learn about the history of the Tateyama Tunnel and its vehicles.

During the event, a commemorative card will also be given to those who ride the trolleybus. In addition, limited-edition menu items such as “Black Curry with Melty Cheese” (00000 yen) and “Toro Tetsu Don” (0000 yen), as well as limited-edition products such as miniature models and postage stamps will be available for sale.

The “Memorial Backyard Tour” will be held three times on June 30, September 1, and October 14, and visitors can enjoy explanations and photo opportunities by local staff.

The first 20 people to apply must do so in advance, and the price is 5,000 yen per person (including lunch). Applications will be accepted from 10:00 on June 1 to 15:00 on June 29 by phone (050-3311-0460) at the “Tateyama Tunnel Trolleybus” Memorial Backyard Tour Section.
