On April 19, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Camões Institute for Cooperation and Languages (Camões Institute), Portugal, between JICA President Akihiko TANAKA and Ana FERNANDES, President of Camões Institute.
The MOU is intended to promote collaboration between the Camões Institute and JICA’s partner countries, especially in Portuguese-speaking countries. JICA has also contributed to the activation of behind-the-scenes international discussions on the importance and added value of triangular cooperation (*) by attending the International Meeting on Triangular Cooperation, jointly organized by the Portuguese government and the OECD. President Tanaka and Director Fernández confirmed that with the signing of this MOU, they will work together to promote further partnerships in the field of international cooperation in Portuguese-speaking Angola, Mozambique, Timor-Leste, and other countries, and to communicate their efforts to achieve more effective development cooperation at international conferences.
