JR East will conduct a half-price campaign for “Shinkansen e-Ticket (JRE POINT Upgrade),” which allows customers to use the Tohoku Shinkansen’s Green Car at a discount.
The service, which allows passengers to use their accumulated JRE POINT to upgrade their reserved seat in a standard Shinkansen train to a green car, will be available at half the regular points for rides from May 10 to 28.
Eligible trains are the Yamabiko-go (only starting and ending in Sendai) and the Nasuno. For example, passengers using the Yamabiko train can upgrade from the usual 3,000 points to 1,500 points, while those using the Nasuno train can upgrade from the usual 1,500 points to 750 points.
The point redemption period is from 10:00 a.m. one month prior to the boarding date until four minutes before the departure time of the train on the boarding date.
