Casio Computer Co. will release the G-SHOCK DW-5600AI wristwatch, a signature model of soccer player Andres Iniesta, on May 11. The watch will be priced at 18,700 yen, and reservations will be accepted from May 1.
Iniesta played for the Spanish national team and the prestigious FC Barcelona for many years, and since 2018 he has also played for Vissel Kobe. Casio planned this collaboration because the player’s attitude of constantly seeking evolution and taking on tough challenges is in line with the spirit of G-SHOCK’s identity of NEVER GIVE UP.
The new model is based on the square-shaped DW-5600, but supervised by Iniesta himself. The release date, May 11, will be Iniesta’s 40th birthday.
The black body is decorated with red, the color of the player’s image, and gold to commemorate his achievements to date. The words “Master the game” are printed on the band, and when the backlight is turned on, a silhouette reminiscent of the volley shot that led Spain to its first World Cup victory in 2010 appears. In addition, the number 8 is laser-engraved on the side button at 8 o’clock.
