Under the design concept of “STARBUCKS Green Ribbon,” the benches and standing desks are connected as a single ribbon, creating a distinctive design. In addition, the digital artwork that curves and flows overhead reflects the story of the connection between the coffee farm and Tokyo. Seats by the window on the street side offer a restful view of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing.
The third to fourth floors are “SHARE LOUNGE,” an hourly café-lounge space for a fee; the third floor displays anime and special effects figures, while the fourth floor is a calm space that can be used for business meetings or as a co-working space. Tickets are required for admission.
CCC President and CEO Takahashi Takanori spoke at the preview. Mr. Takahashi is taking over from founder Muneaki Masuda, who will become President and CEO in 2023.
We have been delivering the excellence of contents through TSUTAYA to all over Japan. And here at SHIBUYA TSUTAYA, we have created a place where everyone can meet their “likes”. This is a new stage of challenge for us. We would like to start here to create new value in the world and be one step ahead of the times. I hope that many of you will visit us and experience SHIBUYA TSUTAYA for yourselves.
Takahiro Kamata, Executive Producer of the CCC Shibuya Project, then explained about SHIBUYA TSUTAYA.
Shibuya is known as a “town for young people,” but it is most visited by women in their 20s, and is also visited by a particularly large number of foreigners visiting Japan as a tourist destination. Shibuya is an area where IP content is concentrated and disseminated, and they are actively considering a wide range of IP collaborations, including VTuber, fashion, and food, for example. SHIBUYA TSUTAYA is being renovated with these targets in mind. The renewal of SHIBUYA TSUTAYA has also been done in response to the lack of rest areas in Shibuya. He concluded, “We would like SHIBUYA TSUTAYA to be more than just a landmark in Shibuya. We would like to make a series of efforts to energize not only Japan but also the world, with the vision of transmitting Japanese content to the rest of the world.
