Hotel New Akao” recommended by Mr. Yamaguchi, a hotel staff member who knows about local attractions.

Although more and more people are using SNS to gather information about their travel destinations, even in this day and age, we are still interested in the recommendations of local people. In this section, we ask people who work at lodging facilities throughout Japan to introduce points of interest at the lodging facilities where they work and their favorite sightseeing spots in the surrounding area.

For this interview, we spoke with Aimi Yamaguchi, Planning and Public Relations Manager of Hotel New Akao.

Name: Hotel New Akao

Location: 1993-65, Atami, Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture

–Please give us an overview of the facility.

Located in Nishikigaura, a scenic spot far from the hustle and bustle of downtown Atami, all 350 rooms in the two buildings have ocean views. In addition to the perfect location, the hotel offers high-quality Atami hot springs, a gorgeous retro Showa-era interior, an extraordinary dining experience at the impressive theater restaurant, and approximately 20 different activities at any one time. The hotel is packed with “unique experiences” that can only be experienced here.

–What are some of the highlights or experiences that you would like to see or experience that you can’t find anywhere else?

The view is unique to a hotel standing on the sea. The hotel is very open and you can feel the ocean close by no matter where you are in the hotel. On the day of the Atami Marine Fireworks Festival, you can enjoy the fireworks display against the backdrop of the night view of Atami city center that spreads out before your eyes. This is a one-of-a-kind view that can only be seen at the hotel, and we hope you will see it at least once.

–What are your personal recommendations for nearby attractions?

Atami Castle” and “Atami Trick Art Labyrinth Museum” are located right next to the hotel, and are well known as typical sightseeing spots in Atami. Events are held on weekends, and there are many attractions on each floor, making it a great neighborhood spot for both families and friends to enjoy. It is one of the few facilities within walking distance from the hotel (it is hilly, but …… do your best).

–Finally, any last words for our readers?

Thank you very much for your continued patronage of Hotel New Akao, and we are pleased to announce our new departure in July 2023 under the title of “Reviving a Symbol of Atami in 1998”. We will continue to welcome guests as a hotel that offers an extraordinary experience to a wide range of generations, with a nostalgic feel for seniors and a new feel for younger guests.
