Sneaking into “Nagasaki Stadium City” under construction for opening in October

Posted on 2024-05-072024-05-16 by Editor in Chief

Regional Creation Nagasaki, a group company of Japan Net Holdings responsible for regional development projects, is constructing Nagasaki Stadium City, a complex facility centered around a soccer stadium in the center of Nagasaki City, scheduled to open on October 14, 2024. I had a special opportunity to see the construction in progress.

The facility is conveniently located between JR Nagasaki Station and JR Urakami Station, about a 10-minute walk from both stations. The five facilities are “STADIUM CITY HOTEL NAGASAKI”, a hotel where you can watch games from your guest room, “HAPPINESS ARENA”, the home arena of the professional basketball club Nagasaki Verka, “STADIUM CITY NORTH”, an office building, and “STADIUM CITY SOUTH”, a shopping mall. SOUTH”, a shopping mall.

In both facilities, the main body of the buildings were almost complete and interior work was underway.

PEACE STADIUM Connected by SoftBank will be a dedicated soccer stadium with approximately 20,000 seats, but the shortest distance to the pitch where the players will play is approximately 5 meters, so it will be a stadium where visitors can feel the intensity of the game firsthand. A VIP lounge will be set up next to the gate where the players enter the stadium, so that visitors can watch the players enter the stadium up close as they inspire each other.

This time, we also visited a model room open to sponsor companies and confirmed the comfort of the seats. My impression was that the seats are designed to provide a comfortable and spacious pitch in the front, back, left, and right, so that the spectators can comfortably watch the matches without feeling cramped.

The upper part of the back stand, located on the opposite side of the main stand, will be a hotel with guest rooms, a swimming pool, sauna, restaurant, etc., allowing people to watch the games in their own style.

As for the HAPPINESS ARENA, it will be a facility that can host concerts and other events in addition to basketball games. There will also be a futsal court on the rooftop, making it a place where citizens can casually enjoy sports activities in addition to watching games.

Although we were unable to tour the office building and shopping mall, the office building has a stadium view lounge for the exclusive use of its tenants, a feature that is unique to this facility. The shopping mall is also expected to open in October, and the new tenants have been announced one after another, including a brewery where visitors can enjoy craft beer and a zip line that passes over the stadium, making it a new sightseeing spot in Nagasaki.
