Tokyu Corporation will conduct a demonstration test of a credit card touch-payment boarding service with deferred payment starting on May 15.
Until now, passengers were required to purchase a digital ticket (special ticket) in advance when using the touch function, but after the start of the demonstration experiment, passengers will be able to use the system without purchasing a ticket and using a standard fare. The usage history can be checked on the “Q-move” website.
The six participating brands are Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay, with Mastercard to be added in the future. In addition, passengers using a TOKYU CARD will earn 3% TOKYU POINT on the amount of the fare.
At the time of launch, all Tokyu Corporation stations will be covered, with the exception of the Setagaya Line. The Setagaya Line is scheduled to have a reader installed by the end of FY2024. At each station, passengers can use the system by touching their card or smart phone with the card to an automatic ticket gate, but for Shin-Yokohama Station only, the ticket gate is not yet equipped (scheduled to be installed within FY2024), so for the time being, passengers will have to touch the reader at the ticket window.
