JICA will continue to implement the Mongolia Open Innovation and Co-creation for SDGs (MICS) in FY2024 (“MICS2024”).

MICS is a program that supports a wide range of stakeholders from industry, government, academia, and finance in both countries* to bring together technologies, ideas, and funds to co-create innovative solutions and work together to solve social issues and achieve the SDGs in Mongolia and Japan.

(*) Japanese and Mongolian companies (including start-ups), financial institutions, research institutions, higher education institutions (universities, technical colleges, etc.), local governments/public institutions, NGOs, individuals, etc.

The main flow of the program is as follows: First, the above-mentioned wide range of stakeholders co-create innovative solutions to social issues in Mongolia and Japan, and propose collaborative projects (in June). After two stages of screening, the proposed collaborative projects will be narrowed down to 10 (in August), and the 10 collaborative projects (teams) will receive support (mentoring, partial travel expenses between Mongolia and Japan, etc.) for their activities for about six months. (For a detailed schedule, please refer to 2.)

We are pleased to announce the kick-off event of MICS2024 as described in 1. below. We hope that many of you from both Japan and Mongolia will join us.
