Suitcase Trends Seen at Ace’s New Fall/Winter Product Exhibition

Posted on 2024-05-142024-05-25 by Editor in Chief

On May 14, Ace held an exhibition of new products for fall and winter for interested parties.

What we sensed at this year’s exhibition was a recovery in demand for suitcases, which had been cooled by the Corona disaster. During the Corona disaster, small-sized suitcases that could fit in a coin-operated locker were conspicuously proposed, with an eye toward one-day trips to nearby places, but at this year’s exhibition, large-sized suitcases were lined up in a row.

One trend that is attracting attention is the “trunk-type” suitcase. While complying with carry-on and checked baggage size regulations, these products are slimmer in width and have a thicker, vertical form, and are commonly referred to as trunk-type suitcases because they can be easily loaded into the trunk of a car.

They are becoming popular not only because they are easy to load in a car, but also because they take up less space when spread out on a trip and can hold bulky items such as helmets and diving fins. The company plans to respond to this trend by adding a trunk-type model to its Proteka series.

Carrycases with front pockets are popular for the convenience of being able to quickly retrieve necessary items when the need arises, and the company has developed a product that employs a new “one-touch open” mechanism for the front pocket.

While most front pockets are zippered, the newly developed front pocket is linked to the main locking system, allowing the pocket section to be opened and closed with a single push of a switch next to the locking section. This new concept, which combines security and ease of use, will be useful not only for travel but also for everyday use.

The company’s flagship “Proteka” brand is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and the luxury model “Presti” is scheduled to be introduced this fall, featuring leather and metal parts with enhanced quality while maintaining functionality, and the brand’s first twin wheel casters.
