Casio Computer Co., Ltd. will release a new model of its shock-resistant “G-SHOCK” watch on June 8 in collaboration with the Surfrider Foundation, an organization that conducts activities to protect the coastal environment. The price is 19,800 yen.
The Surfrider Foundation is an international environmental NGO founded in California in 1984, currently operating in 23 countries around the world with approximately 250,000 members. G-SHOCK has collaborated with G-Shock a total of seven times from 1995 to 2010.
The G-5600SRF, the eighth collaboration model, uses recycled plastic waste from the manufacturing process for the bezel and band. The waste plastic is pulverized and mixed with urethane material to form the base. The texture created by the black and white flake material allows the wearer to enjoy a unique design.
The “SURFRIDER FOUNDATION” logo is on the dial and back cover, and the words “#oceanfriendly lifestyle” with the message “ocean-friendly lifestyle” are printed on the band.
In terms of functionality, the watch is equipped with Tough Solar, which generates electricity from sunlight or fluorescent light and does not require regular battery replacement. In addition, the packaging is made of recycled paper.
