Tokyo Station 100th Anniversary Commemorative Suica to expire uniformly on March 31, 2026. Cards that have never been used are eligible.

On May 16, JR East announced the expiration date of the “Tokyo Station 100th Anniversary Commemorative Suica”.

Originally, Suica cards that have not been used for a long period of time expire after 10 years, but if they are used even once for train or bus rides or as payment for purchases, they will not expire for the next 10 years.

The “Tokyo Station 100th Anniversary Commemorative Suica,” which went on sale in December 2014, has been sold over multiple occasions and a total of 4.27 million cards have been issued and shipped, but as of the end of March 2024, approximately 2.5 million cards have not been used. As of March 31, 2024, approximately 2.5 million had not been used. Since it is not possible to determine when each Suica was issued, the company plans to expire them uniformly on March 31, 2026, as long as they have never been used.

If the Tokyo Station 100th Anniversary Commemorative Suica card expires, the card cannot be replaced and the remaining charge amount cannot be transferred. The remaining charge amount and deposit will be refunded upon collection of the card.
