In response to a request from the government of the Federal Republic of Brazil, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide emergency relief supplies to the country in response to the damage caused by torrential rains as follows

The torrential flooding that occurred in April in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) in the Federative Republic of Brazil caused extensive human and property damage in the affected areas.
Damage as of May 16 (as announced by the RS state government)

Affected people 2,281,774
Evacuees 615,366
