The Executive Committee of the Tenjin Festival in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, will hold the 2024 Tsuruoka Tenjin Festival from May 24 to 26.

On the 25th, the day of the festival, the Air Self-Defense Force’s “Blue Impulse” will fly over Tsuruoka City. The flight time is from 11:00 to 11:30. There is no designated viewing area, as it may cause traffic congestion, and even suburban areas are welcome to view the display.

Also, from 12:30 to 13:30 on the same day, a fan service will be held in front of the main entrance of the Tsuruoka City Hall, where commemorative photos with the pilot will be taken. A practice flight is also scheduled from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. on the 24th.

The Tsuruoka Tenjin Festival is a Shinto ritual held at Tsuruoka Tenmangu Shrine (3-40 Shinmei-cho, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture), which is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning. The main festival will be held in front of Tsuruoka Station on the 24th of the same month.
