Ise City, Mie Prefecture, will hold the 72nd National Fireworks Festival dedicated to Ise Jingu Shrine on July 12.

Paid admission seats are available at Ticket Pia (Pia code: 653-331) at convenience stores (FamilyMart, Seven-Eleven) or online. 6 reserved seats, pair reserved seats, unreserved seats, camera seats, and chair reserved seats are available.

Special bleacher seats (6 people per square) are also available through Furusato Choice, a tax payment website. All tickets will be sold out as soon as they are sold out.

This event is one of the three major competitive fireworks displays in Japan, and approximately 7,000 fireworks are shot off along the banks of the Miyagawa River in Ise. Selected pyrotechnicians from all over Japan gather to compete in a “competitive fireworks display” format, where they dedicate their fireworks and pray for safety throughout the year.

The competition is divided into two sections: the “Launching Fireworks” section, in which each pyrotechnist will launch three No. 5 (approx. 15 cm in diameter) and one No. 10 (approx. 30 cm in diameter) in sequence, and the “Starmine” section, in which various fireworks are rhythmically shot up. The “Starmine” section features a variety of fireworks that are launched in a rhythmic manner. The climax of the event will be a series of 30 powerful “shaku-dama” (No. 10) fireworks.
