Casio Computer Co., Ltd. will release the MRG-B2100B, a shock-resistant watch with a lattice-shaped three-dimensional dial and octagonal bezel, from its top-of-the-line G-SHOCK series MR-G on June 14. It will be priced at 649,000 yen.
Inspired by the traditional Japanese construction method of kumigumi, the dial is decorated with wavy unevenness and minute cavities on the base surface, expressing the world of beautiful kumiko with its intricate geometric patterns. In addition to its design, it is also compatible with solar power generation by letting in light through the fine holes.
The octagonal bezel, a feature of the “2100” series, arranged from the first G-SHOCK model, the DW-5000C, is subdivided into 27 parts in order to achieve a beautiful metal finish in every corner. The exterior parts were polished one by one by craftsmen before being assembled as precisely as a wooden assembly.
The top bezel is made of COBARION alloy, and the band is made of DAT55G titanium alloy. Both of these materials are said to be three to four times harder than pure titanium, making this model not only a refined and beautiful metal, but also a tough G-Shock.
