On June 4, Tokyu’s fixed-price accommodation service TsugiTsugi, in collaboration with Solaseed Air, Star Flyer, JR Kyushu, and Nippon Rent-A-Car, announced the “Kyushu/Okinawa Off-Peak Travel Promotion Project.
During the project period from June 4 to May 31, 2025, all members who visit the Kyushu/Okinawa area by Solaseed Air flights and stay at TsugiTsugi’s eligible facilities will be entitled to one free night’s stay that can be used nationwide. Members can apply once a month, so if they visit every month, they can get up to 12 nights’ worth.
TsugiTsugi is a monthly accommodation service that allows users to choose their favorite places to stay from more than 200 facilities nationwide, with rates ranging from 23,980 yen per month for “Gerabaru 2,” which allows two nights from Sunday to Thursday, to 55,800 yen for “Gerabaru 5,” which allows five nights from Sunday to Thursday, and 299,800 yen for “Mainichi 30,” which allows 30 consecutive nights. The “Eravelle 2” package is priced at 23,980 yen per month for the first night. The first month of “Eravelle 2” is free of charge, and the number of individual members is 85,000 (as of June).
Except for the “Mainichi 30” plan (30 consecutive nights), this service is only available for weekday stays (Sunday through Thursday), so its use is limited. However, since one accompanying guest can use this service free of charge for all plans, it is effectively less than 6,000 yen per night per person.
Mr. Kazumine Kawamoto, Senior Manager of Business Strategy Group, Tokyu Hotel and Resort Business Department, explained that the main purpose of the project was to stimulate demand for weekday stays, and that the rapid recovery in demand after Corona, the labor shortage in the industry, and the increase in the number of visitors to Japan due to the weak yen are all contributing to overtourism in Kyushu and Okinawa. The same situation is occurring in Kyushu and Okinawa.
This project is based on the theme of “dispersion, excursion, and revisit,” and TsugiTsugi members who visit Kyushu and Okinawa, which are well suited for stimulating demand on weekdays and during off-peak periods, will be entitled to one night’s accommodation for free (if they meet the conditions), which may trigger their next action, saying “I’ve just been here, so let’s travel to another area this time. This can be a trigger for the next action, such as “Now that I’ve gone all this way, let’s travel to a different area.
About 50 of the more than 200 facilities covered by TsugiTsugi are located in the Kyushu and Okinawa areas. By combining the “JR Kyushu Free Ticket,” which is sold at a limited in-flight price on Solaseed Air and Star Flyer, and Nippon Rent-a-Car vehicles offered at a preferential price for members, you can enjoy exploring new travel destinations and making round trips at low cost. You will be able to enjoy exploring new travel destinations and touring around at a low cost.
Mr. Kawamoto stated that the goal of the project is to “maximize dispersion and excursions through the joint efforts of five transportation companies, and we hope to encourage return visits while lowering the threshold for first-time visitors with the gift of one night’s stay.
In May 2023, TsugiTsugi began offering a “travel destination consultation” function using ChatGPT to help customers select travel destinations and accommodations, and has now begun offering a unique function to create “memory songs” using music generation AI to preserve travel memories in tangible form. The company has now started offering a unique function that creates “memory songs” using a music-generating AI to preserve travel memories.
