Tokyo DisneySea opened its eighth new theme port, Fantasy Springs, today, June 6. Fantasy Springs is the only theme port in the world with a theme of “Disney Fantasy World Guided by a Magical Fountain” and consists of three areas based on the Disney films “Anna and the Snow Queen,” “Rapunzel in the Tower,” and “Peter Pan,” and a hotel, the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel. DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel, the world’s only theme port.
Construction will begin in May 2019, taking approximately five years and costing a total investment of approximately 320 billion yen, and boasting the largest total development area since Tokyo DisneySea opened in 2001.
At the ceremony held prior to the opening, Toshio Kagami, Chairman of the Board and Representative Director of Oriental Land, Yumiko Takano, Chairman of the Board and CEO, Kenji Yoshida, President and COO, Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of The Disney Experience, took the stage, Disney Experience Chairman Josh D’Amaro took the stage. He thanked the guests and all those involved and announced the opening of Fantasy Springs.
The ceremony was attended by 50 pairs of members of the Tokyo Disney Resort Official Park Fan Club “Fundamental Disney” who were selected by lottery. In addition, Anna and Elsa from “Anna and the Snow Queen,” Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from “Rapunzel in the Tower,” and Peter Pan and Wendy from “Peter Pan” were also on hand to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter at Tokyo DisneySea together. Cast Members also waved flags to welcome guests as the park opened for the ceremony.
