RV park in Nishi-Izu, where you can stay in your car at the beach with a beautiful sunset view Ukusu Campground RV Park

Posted on 2024-06-082024-07-06 by Editor in Chief

This time we used the Ukyusu Campground RV Park (2102-13 Ukyusuhama, Nishi-Izu-cho, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture), located in Nishi-Izu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture.

The Nishi-Izu area has many scenic spots, and Fukada Crystal Beach, where Ukyusu Campground RV Park is located, is known for its beautiful sunset views. Fukada Crystal Beach was originally a stone beach, but about 25 years ago, sand was brought in to transform it into a sandy beach for swimming, and at the same time, the campground was redeveloped, making it an even more popular spot.

Since such Ukusu campground also has a paved parking lot, an RV park for two vehicles was set up in 2021 with a plot with additional power supply facilities. Since then, the number of spaces available as an RV park has been expanded to 10 spaces due to the increase in the number of overnight visitors.

Reservations and inquiries for Ukusu Campground RV Park can be made by phone or online. Please check the website for contact information.

Fees for the Ukusu Campground RV Park are divided by period and day of the week: 3,300 yen from April to July before “Marine Day” (July 15, 2024, a national holiday) and from Sunday to Thursday from September to October. And 5,500 yen on Fridays and Saturdays from April to October and before national holidays. The price is 2,200 yen on Sundays through Thursdays in October and November through March, when the summer season is over, and is payable in cash only.

There are 10 spaces available, but users are not allowed to choose their own locations when making a reservation. However, large vehicles may not fit in the plots, so in that case, if you let them know at the time of reservation that you are driving a large vehicle, they will assign you a space that has room to spare.

When you arrive, first go to the administration building to check in. Check-in starts at 12:00 p.m., so if you arrive at the start of check-in time, you can have lunch at the RV park.

Some RV parks have a later designated check-in time, but it is still nice to be able to get in around noon. Not only for meals, but also for a leisurely stroll around the area after getting your car ready.

It is especially nice to have time to explore the scenery and surroundings in a location like the Ukusu Campground RV Park, where you are not tied down by preparations and other activities.

You can also use the hot spring at the Nishi-Izu Crystal View Hotel, which is only a few minutes’ walk away, as a day-trip hot spring, so you can relax there.

The price for a day trip to the Nishi-Izu Crystal View Hotel hot spring is 1000 yen for adults and 500 yen for children (subject to change during peak season). Available hours are from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Please note that there are days when the one-day spa is not available, so please contact the hotel in advance if you plan to use it.

Crystal Beach, where Ukusu Campground RV Park is located, is managed by the local government, so rules are strictly enforced. This is a reassuring attitude for a seaside facility that can easily lead to a feeling of openness.

One rule I would like to mention is about pets. As a rule, both campgrounds and RV parks prohibit pets. However, RV parks allow pets to accompany you if you can keep the “no pets outside” policy, but it is not practical to take them outside when you are thinking about walking them. However, it is not practical to take them out of the car for walking, etc. Even if they are in the area you are renting, you are not allowed to take them outside.

The above is an introduction to Ukusu Campground RV Park. There are many rules and regulations, but on the other hand, the environment is so strict that it is suitable for those who do not like a loose atmosphere.

Also, unlike sunrises, sunsets can be viewed without any difficulty (without getting up early), and in the scene introduced in the photos, there is more than 30 minutes between the first and second photos, so it is a good facility for those who want to relax and enjoy the luxury of watching the sunset. I think it will be crowded on weekends with people coming to play at the beach in the coming season, but I think this place is much better when there are fewer people, so I recommend using it on weekdays if you can go there on weekdays.
