Representatives of Brazil’s 2.7 Million Japanese-Brazilian Community and 10 Business Leaders Visit Fukushima for Business Meetings | News & Media

Posted on 2024-06-102024-07-06 by Editor in Chief

The “2024 Japanese Invitation Program for Brazilian Nikkei Business Leaders” was held from May 27 (Mon.) to June 4 (Tue.), 2024 (9 days in Japan). 10 participants, including Nikkei recommended by Brazilian Nikkei organizations, toured Fukushima and other areas, met with Japanese officials, and conducted business negotiations. Many local newspapers covered the event.

Those who visited Japan this time were front-line businessmen active in the Brazilian business world and young talents who will lead the Nikkei community in the future. They visited Fukushima Prefecture, which is still suffering from harmful rumors, and observed the production and processing sites of safe, delicious, and high-quality Fukushima products, as well as the food and beverage industry. At the business exchange meeting, opinions were exchanged on specific business partnerships, and the group, who saw and heard about the reconstruction of Fukushima and listened to the experiences of those affected by the disaster, were exposed to information that they would not have known without actually visiting Fukushima, and were again impressed by the culture of Japanese “Omotenashi” (hospitality), and gave their hearts to the people of Fukushima. They were impressed by Japan’s culture of hospitality and were moved to think about the people of Fukushima. They also warmly offered to cooperate with us through business activities, such as importing Fukushima products, and to disseminate correct information about Fukushima themselves.

JICA will continue to build friendly relations with people of Japanese descent in Latin America based on its ties with these communities.
