Sogo & Seibu has begun renovation work on the Seibu Ikebukuro main store (1-28-1 Minami-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo), which is scheduled to reopen in stages from January 2025 and fully open in summer of the same year.
The total sales floor area will be 48,000m2, with approximately 380 stores. Under the theme of “INCLUSION,” the fashion floor was previously divided into “women’s” and “men’s” floors, but after the renovation, both categories will be housed in the same store.
The company will strengthen “Luxury,” “Cosmetics,” and “Departures,” which are highly popular among customers. In the “Luxury” category, approximately 60 brands will be gathered in a combined men’s and women’s store with 1.3 times the current sales floor space.
The cosmetics department store will carry approximately 60 domestic and foreign brands, including unisex brands, and will have approximately 1.7 times the sales floor space of the current store. In the “Depa Basement,” approximately 180 stores, including new brands, are planned to be opened, and the external sales function will be further strengthened.
The architectural design of the renovated building is based on the concept of “MAISON” and aims to create a space composed of three elements: class, sophistication, and art.
