Tourism Expo Japan announced the outline of Tourism Expo Japan 2024 on June 11.

Tourism Expo Japan is one of the world’s largest travel events, co-hosted by JATA, Japan Tourism Organization (JTA), and Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO). Tourism bureaus, travel agencies, airlines, accommodation facilities, and related businesses from all over Japan and the world will gather at their respective booths to provide the latest information.

This year, the exhibition will once again be held in Tokyo (International Exhibition Hall: Tokyo Big Sight) for four days, from September 26 to 29. The first two days will be industry days, and the second two days will be open to the public.

The target number of visitors is 180,000 (58,000 on industry days and 122,000 on general days), and the venue will be Tokyo Big Sight East Exhibition Halls East 1-6 and the Conference Tower.

Speaking at the press conference, Hiroyuki Takahashi, Chairman of JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents), said, “This year’s Tokyo event, the first in two years, is an opportunity to show overseas that Japan’s domestic, overseas, and inbound travel is reviving,” and introduced special events such as the Osaka-Kansai Expo, the 60th anniversary of overseas travel, and reconstruction assistance in Hokuriku.

In particular, a promotion booth (8 booths) will be set up to promote the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which is only six months away from its opening. In addition to introducing domestic and international pavilions and the Future Society Showcase, a business desk will be set up to provide consultation services for the creation of Expo tour products. On stage, there will be information on how to purchase super-early-bird tickets for special drawings for Expo pavilions and events, and the official character “Myakmyak” will visit the Expo.

In addition, actress Tomoko Yamaguchi has been appointed as a special supporter for this year’s event. 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the liberalization of overseas travel, and Yamaguchi, who was born in 1964, the year of liberalization, is herself engaged in activities to convey culture through travel. The specific activities of the supporters will be announced in early August.
