Weathernews has added local rain report submissions received from users to its rain cloud radar map on its Weathernews weather app.
Since 2005, the company has been implementing the “Weather Report” initiative, which allows users to submit photos and videos of the sky. The company receives 20,000 messages a day at any given time and more than 50,000 messages during stormy weather, which it uses to more accurately assess actual weather conditions and improve the accuracy of its weather forecasts.
This upgrade adds the ability to overlay surrounding weather reports on the rain cloud radar for more realistic confirmation of rain conditions.
In addition to forecasts of 250m square and 10-minute intervals, users can check actual rainfall, lightning, and road flooding with photos, videos, and comments taken by users who are actually at the location.
