Walt Disney Japan will release a new collection “THE LION KING 30 YEARS” at the Disney Store on June 21 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of the movie “The Lion King.
The first sales will start on the 18th at some Disney Store stores (Disney Flagship Tokyo, Tokyo Disney Resort Store, and Ota AEON MALL Store) and the official Disney online store, DisneyStore.jp.
The new collection features art drawn from the motif of the song “I Can’t Wait to Be King” from the play. It is so colorful that one can almost hear the song just by looking at it. Simba in his leafy mane and the adorable Nala. In addition, Zazoo, the butler bird, and many animals are depicted.
The lineup includes standard plush keychains (2,200 yen each) and plush toys (Simba, 4,500 yen; Scar, 10,000 yen), a face towel (1,800 yen) to accompany summer water play, and an umbrella (3,500 yen) with a layered pattern inside when opened.
The store also offers mugs (2,200 yen), gauze blankets (3,300 yen), and other items that can be used to cool off in the summer. Also available are “cookies in a tin” (1,600 yen), which includes melon cookies and character-printed cookies, perfect as souvenirs for returning home.
In addition, plushies (1,400 yen each) from the popular “Urupocha-chan” series are newly added to the lineup. The full lineup of plushies includes Simba, Nala, Pumbaa, Timon, Mufasa, Scar, and Ed the hyena, all of which have a fluffy form and gaze at you with luminous eyes. The buttocks are beaded and can be placed on the floor to enjoy them side by side.
