Acure vending machines at JR East’s Shin-Yokohama, Kikuna and 6 other stations are now cashless-only. To reduce cash-related operations

Posted on 2024-06-182024-07-31 by Editor in Chief

JR East Cross Station’s Water Business Company will convert Acure’s beverage vending machines to cashless-only vending starting July 1 at JR East’s Oguchi, Kikuna, Shin-Yokohama, Kotsuke, Kamoi, and Shinkoyasu stations. Chilled products and ice cream vending machines are not covered.

The objective is to improve time performance by reducing the amount of work required to make payments to sales offices and perform cash-related maintenance, etc. The use of Suica was also cited as a reason for experiencing the convenience of JRE POINT. The six stations listed above have a high rate of e-money payments, and with Suica usage at ticket gates reaching approximately 80%, it was determined that the cashless system could be successfully implemented.

Cashless vending machines accept Suica, PASMO and other transportation-related electronic money (except PiTaPa), iD, QUICPay, nanaco, Rakuten Edy, WAON, AliPay and WeChatPay as payment methods.

Until September 30, customers who use Suica registered with JRE POINT at the cashless vending machines at the above six stations will receive 10 times the rate of JRE POINT (10 points for 100 yen).
