As part of the investment promotion support services by JICA Pakistan Office, in cooperation with the Board of Investment (BOI) of the Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Japan, and related Japanese organizations, JICA Pakistan Office is planning to dispatch a mission in early autumn 2024 for Japanese companies considering business development in Pakistan, to observe the local trade and investment environment and opportunities, and to gather information from related parties. The mission is planned to be dispatched in early autumn 2024, with the aim of actually inspecting the local trade and investment environment and opportunities and gathering information from relevant parties.
Located in South Asia, Pakistan is approximately twice the size of Japan and currently has a population of over 230 million, with a projected population increase of nearly 40 million more by 2030 (UN long-term population projections). Expectations for direct investment targeting the domestic demand brought about by this total population and population growth are becoming increasingly high.
In addition, Pakistan has a huge market in neighboring countries, and its top trading partners are Western countries, making it possible to take advantage of preferential treatment for developed countries, including Japan. Expectations for export-oriented investment are also growing in this country.
In addition to textiles, Pakistan’s largest export industry, there is business potential in agriculture and food products, tourism, ICT and other services, automotive and pharmaceutical industries, medical equipment, sporting goods, leather goods, logistics, energy, infrastructure and construction.

To promote bilateral economic exchange by helping participating Japanese companies gather information necessary for business development and form networks through exchanges with local governments and private companies.
