NTT Docomo and Goldwyn, in cooperation with the Japan Coast Guard, unveiled “118 (Ichi-ichi Hachi),” a fashion item designed to raise awareness of the emergency call number “118.

The first limited edition collection in collaboration with Goldwyn’s outdoor brand HELLY HANSEN.

While marine accidents have been on the rise in recent years due to increased interest in marine activities such as fishing and SUP, the purpose of this program is to raise awareness of the fact that approximately 80% of people do not know the number “118”.

DOCOMO designed the item based on the waveform of 830 MHz~, which connects to the “118” and DOCOMO base stations, and HELLY HANSEN was responsible for the item’s design.

As the first step of the educational activities, 130 “118” design T-shirts were presented to Katase-nishihama and Unuma beaches on July 1, the day the beaches opened to the public. The company aims to raise awareness of “118” among bathers by having lifesavers and beach house staff wear the T-shirts.

The T-shirt has “In case of emergency at the sea, call 118.” printed on the front, and an educational text about marine accidents printed in English on the back.

As the second phase of the awareness campaign, jackets, hoodies, tote bags, and other items with the “118” logo design will be available for order in the fall at participating HELLY HANSEN stores nationwide.
