The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions (R/D) with the Government of Ukraine on June 19 in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on the “Small-Scale Horticulture Promotion Project Including Women Farmers’ Inclusion Enhancement”, a development program study-type technical cooperation.
In Ukraine, agriculture remains an important source of livelihood for rural residents even after the Russian invasion. In particular, horticultural crops such as vegetables and fruits are expected to grow through increased yields and higher added value by introducing new varieties and improving technology, taking advantage of the country’s fertile land, but farmers are facing challenges such as low productivity and lack of marketing capacity.
