The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Yen Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of the Republic of India on July 5 in New Delhi for the “Mumbai Metro Line 3 Construction Project (Phase V)” up to 84,261 million yen.
This project aims to contribute to the development of the local economy and improvement of the urban environment through the construction of a mass rapid transit system in the Mumbai metropolitan area, the capital of the western Indian state of Maharashtra, to meet the increasing demand for transportation, reduce traffic congestion, and decrease traffic pollution. This project is expected to contribute to SDGs Goal 8 (Job satisfaction and economic growth), Goal 9 (Create a foundation for industrial and technological innovation), Goal 11 (Create cities where people can continue to live), and Goal 13 (Take concrete measures against climate change).
