Under the original storyline that will be developed in the West Japan area, photo spots will be set up at SA/PAs, a stamp rally, sales of original goods and collaboration food, and a photo contest will be held. The SA/PAs participating in the event are as follows.

NEXCO West Japan and West Nippon Expressway Service Holdings will conduct the “NEX Sumikko West Japan Campaign” from July 20 to January 31, 2025, in collaboration with Sun-X’s “Sumikko Gurashi.

Kyushu and Okinawa area (9 locations)

Koga SA up, Koga SA down, Kiyama PA down, Hirokawa SA down, Yamada SA down, Miyahara SA down, Kanadachi SA down, Igei SA up, Igei SA down

Each facility will have a “Sumicco Area” with a different original photo panel for each area. Takarazukakita SA (Hyogo Prefecture), Kishiwada SA (Osaka Prefecture), Dannoura PA (Yamaguchi Prefecture), and Koga SA (Fukuoka Prefecture) will be designated as “Super Sumicco Areas” and will feature special decorations.

The stamp rally will be held in each area in two phases: the first half (October 5 to November 30) and the second half (December 1 to January 31, 2025). By stamping three “Nex Sumikko stamps” placed at designated SA/PAs in each area on the rally form included in the stamp rally set and applying online, you will receive either a “Sumikko Gurashi Christmas Card” for the first half or a “Sumikko Gurashi Spring Card” for the second half. In conjunction with the start of the stamp rally, a limited number of sets with original hand-painted plush toys such as “Tonkatsu” for the Kansai area and “Shirokuma” for the Kyushu and Okinawa areas will also be available.

Original goods sold at all 26 SA/PAs include mini towels, clear files, stickers, hand-tied plush toys, acrylic key chains, and other items featuring Sumikko characters dressed as highway workers and local specialties.

The collaboration food lineup includes “Tonkatsu Donburi Set” (on the way to Fukuyama SA), “Ehime Tai Katsu Burger” (on the way to Ishizuchi-san SA), and “Cat Soft Ice Cream” (on the way to Tatsuno-nishi SA), each with a luncheon mat, chopsticks and flag featuring Sumikko Gurashi characters.

In addition, 148 SA/PAs in the western Japan area will hold a campaign starting July 20, in which customers can win MIKKOKOGURUSHI goods and other specialties of western Japan by submitting receipts for purchases of 1,500 yen or more.
