Oriental Land has decided to develop a Japan-based Disney cruise.
The company has signed a license agreement with Disney Enterprises for the cruise business. Based on this license agreement, the company aims to start shipbuilding in fiscal 2025 and to enter into service in fiscal 2028.
In the new business, as with the Tokyo Disney Resort, the company will create a new value-added experience called “Family Entertainment Cruise” by offering an extraordinary experience unique to Disney on a cruise.
In this project, the company will own, manage, and operate the cruise ship. The cruise ship will be approximately 14 tons. The total number of rooms is approximately 1,250. Passenger capacity is approximately 4,000. The number of crew members will be approximately 1,500. The ship will be registered in Japan (planned) and will mainly operate short-term routes to/from ports in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The total investment will be approximately 330 billion yen (construction costs, opening preparation costs, etc.).
On the cruise, guests will experience the world of Disney’s various content. Guests will enjoy a wide variety of food, hospitality, and entertainment that only a Disney cruise can offer.
The fee structure is all-inclusive, with the exception of some experiences and food and beverage costs. Guests can enjoy rooms, immersive experiences with characters, a wide range of dining options from luxury to casual dining, pools, and recreation.
