JR East will launch a new ticketless service, “Ekinet Q-Tike,” on October 1 to enable ticketless boarding even outside the Suica area.
The service will be introduced in the Tohoku area and gradually expanded to all areas within the company’s jurisdiction. Immediately after the launch, the service will be available for the Shinkansen and conventional lines shown in the attached chart (excluding BRT and Kesennuma Line Maeyachi to Yanaizu), and passengers will be able to purchase tickets and limited express tickets (conventional and Shinkansen lines), as well as use discounts offered by the Adult’s Holiday Club and shareholder special discount programs.
On conventional lines, “conventional ticketless limited express ticket” and “conventional ticketless limited express ticket (Tokuwari)” can be applied for, but “Shinkansen e-ticket (Tokudare)” and “Tokkyu Tokudare” for the Shinkansen are not available.
The Tokyo metropolitan area and Tohoku Shinkansen (Tokyo to Koriyama) will be added in the second half of FY2025, the Joetsu area and Joetsu/Hokuriku Shinkansen (Omiya to Niigata and Takasaki to Joetsu Myoko) in the second half of FY2026, and by the end of the same year the service will be extended to the entire JR East area.
