Emergency Relief for Victims of Hurricane Beryl in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines -Delivery of Donated Goods | News & Media

Emergency relief supplies provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl in St. Vincent and the Grenadines have been delivered to the country.

Emergency relief supplies for St. Vincent and the Grenadines arrived in the capital, Kingstown, on Wednesday, July 10. The meeting was held at the Argyle International Airport at 16:00 local time on the same day, in the presence of Mr. Sandy Peters Phillips, Undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Mr. Kenson Stoddard, Deputy Director, National Emergency Management Agency, from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Mr. Naoki Saeto, Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Ichiro Mimura, Director, JICA St. Lucia Office, and Honorary Consul Anthony Regisford from Japan. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Naoki Saeto, Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Ichiro Mimura, Director of the JICA St. Lucia Office, and Mr. Anthony Regisford, Honorary Consul, among others.

At the handover ceremony, Undersecretary Phillips expressed his deep appreciation for Japan’s prompt assistance following the provision of emergency relief supplies to the victims of the Soufriere volcano eruption in 2021, and Deputy Director Stoddard stated that the supplies would be delivered promptly to the affected areas in the south of the country, which were severely damaged by Hurricane Beryl. The Deputy Director General Stoddard expressed his deep appreciation for the prompt support from Japan. In response to this, Secretary Jeto and Office Manager Mimura expressed their hope that the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl would be resolved as soon as possible and that the relief supplies would be useful for the people affected by the disaster.

The relief supplies provided this time will be delivered to the victims by the government of the country.
