docomo Bike Share and Nihon Koei have launched Hachijo-jima Cycle Share as part of the Hachijo-jima Smart Mobility Service Demonstration Project implemented by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
The company aims to solve the island’s transportation problems by installing 20 shared bicycles at seven locations, including the Hachijojima Tourist Association and lodging facilities.
Rentals and payments can be made through the docomo Bike Share app on smartphones. 275 yen per 30 minutes for a one-time membership and 2,200 yen for a one-day pass.
The service is scheduled to be available from July 17 to mid-January 2025.
