Furusato tax payment site “Satofuru” announced the ranking of popular thank-you gifts and search keyword ranking for the first half of 2024.

The “Okhotsk scallop ball cold large (1 kg)” from Monbetsu City, Hokkaido, which has been ranked No. 1 for five consecutive years since 2019, ranked No. 1 again this year, while the “There is a reason” thank-you gift from Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, “There is a reason” silver salmon fillet (about 2 kg), ranked No. 2. Toilet paper and boxed tissues ranked 5th and 6th, marking the first time that daily necessities made the overall ranking.

In a survey conducted by the company in 2023, more than 40% of donors said that the rising prices had an impact on their choice of thank-you gifts. While many donors prefer to receive local specialties, many donors are also looking for “special” thank-you gifts and daily necessities in the first half of this year, as the price of commodities continues to rise.

In the first half of 2024 search keyword ranking, keywords related to “rice,” whose price reportedly rose due to last year’s heat wave and inbound demand, ranked first, fifth, and seventh. In addition, “toilet paper” ranked second and “there is a reason” ranked third, while “olive oil,” whose price was raised, rose from 140th in the first half of last year to 34th, indicating that there were many searches for thank-you products useful for daily use.
